The Township of Russell proposed paving the natural trail portion of the former New York Grand Central Railway line west of the village of Russell, which is now a trail for public use, but nearby residents objected strongly and Township Council is expected to reconsider. The Embrun Panthers won their sixth NCJHL Championship in 10 years after they defeated the North Dundas Rockets in five games on Sun., March 26, at the Palais des Sports.
