CASSELMAN—The Casselman Vikings played a pair of games this past weekend as they welcomed the Char-Lan Rebels on Thursday night and travelled to Winchester on Friday night to take on the Hawks.

The Casselman Vikings welcomed the Char-Lan Rebels to the J. R. Brisson Complex on Thurs., Jan. 23, in the CCHL2. The Vikings went into the game in fourth place in the Martin Division, just three points up on the Winchester Hawks in fifth place and eight points behind the Ottawa Jr. Canadians in third place.
The Vikings opened the scoring at 17:13 of the first period as Frédérick Gagnier sniped his 10th goal of the season from Samuel Labre and Xavier Léveillé taking a 1-0 lead. The Vikings took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Vikings made it 2-0 when Labre scored his fourth of the season from Mathieu Talbot and Nicolas Chartrand at 8:07 but the Rebels got one back at 12:54 on the power play. The Vikings restored a two-goal lead when Talbot marked a milestone with his 20th of the season from Evan Huntley at 14:02.
The Vikings took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission. The Rebels got back to within one at 9:17 of the third period but the Vikings retook a two-goal lead when Shane Spencer ripped home his first of the season from Labre and Shawn Patterson on the power play.
With just over a minute remaining in regulation, the Rebels pulled their goalie in favour of an extra attacker but the Vikings were able to hold off the Rebels’ attack taking the game 4-2. The Rebels outshot the Vikings 34-32.
Picking up the win in the Vikings’ goal was Nick Campbell making 32 saves.
