Many enjoyed a communal Christmas dinner

Organizers of the annual Community Christmas Dinner held at the Morrisburg Legion expected to serve 200 meals during the event. Donations were accepted at the door, with Rev. Canon Pat Martin explaining how any profit from the meal would go to the Apple Tree Ministry of the Anglican Parish of South Dundas, which is involved in outreach ministry in the community.
The historic Winchester United Church hosted its traditional Community Christmas Dinner on Dec. 25 in the church hall. Organizers were busy Christmas morning making the final preparations for the meal which included light refreshments, a traditional Christmas dinner and local musicians performing during the event. Heather Rose says funds for the event were raised in November by the Night Train Big Band Annual Christmas Benefit Concert as well as through donations from members of the congregation and the local community.
Carolyn Thompson Goddard, grew up in Chesterville and attended North Dundas District High School. After completing her BA in Political Science at Carleton University she has worked as a medical secretary and library technician. In 2020 she graduated from Algonquin College with a diploma in Journalism and has been a reporter and column writer for The Chesterville Record for over 10 years.
