GATINEAU—The North Dundas Rockets played a pair of games this past weekend as they welcomed the Clarence Castors on Saturday night and travelled to Gatineau on Sunday afternoon to take on the Hull-Volant.

Volant 6 Rockets 5

The North Dundas Rockets travelled to the Robert Guertin Arena in Gatineau to take on the Gatineau Hull-Volant on Sun., Dec. 8, in the NCJHL. The Rockets were coming off a big 10-3 victory over the Clarence Castors the previous night and were looking to beat the East Division leaders, the Volant. 

The Rockets opened the scoring at 4:30 of the first period as Justin Lefebvre drove one home from Cameron Brown to take a 1-0 lead. The Volant tied the game at 7:33 and took their first lead with just 1:08 remaining in the first period. 

The Rockets got the game to even, with just 11 seconds showing on the clock in the opening frame, as Joel Hunt blasted one to the back of the net from Lefebvre and Nicolas Carroll. The teams took a two-all tie into the first intermission. 

The Volant retook the lead at 6:41 but the Rockets tied the game again, this time with just 20 seconds remaining in the middle frame, as Jarrett Williams fired one home from Carroll; taking a three-all draw into the second intermission. 

The Rockets took their second lead of the game when Lefebvre scored his second of the game from Williams just 40 seconds into the third period to make it 4-3. The Volant scored three consecutive goals at 6:33, 8:35 and 13:18 taking a 6-4 lead. 

The Rockets got to within one when Brown pounded one home from Lefebvre with just 38 seconds remaining in regulation. The Rockets tried to tie the game before the final buzzer but time elapsed as the Volant hung on for a 6-5 victory. 

Suffering the loss in the Rockets’ goal was Emerson Hunt.

Rockets 10 Castors 3

The North Dundas Rockets welcomed the Clarence Castors to the Chesterville Arena on Sat., Dec. 7, in the NCJHL. The Rockets went into the game in second place in the West Division, 15 points behind the South Grenville Rangers and six points up on the Metcalfe Jets in third. 

The Rockets opened the scoring when Nicholas Carroll scored on a breakaway unassisted at 3:14 of the first period to take a 1-0 lead. The Castors tied the game at 6:39 but the Rockets answered as Joel Hunt fired one to the back the net from Carroll and Justin Lefebvre at 10:39. 

The Rockets took a two-goal lead when Lefebvre blasted one home from Carroll and Hunt at 17:42. The Rockets took a 3-1 lead into the first intermission. The Castors got to within one at 5:36 of the second period but the Rockets’ offence kick it up a gear when Hunt scored his second of the game from Lefebvre and Joshua Tapp at 13:36. 

The Rockets retook a three-goal lead when Hunt completed his hat trick at 15:30 from Brett Lannin and increased their lead to four, as Jarrett Williams slammed home a rebound from Carroll while on a four-on-four at 16:35. The Rockets took a 6-2 lead into the second intermission. 

The Rockets made it 7-2 when Will Watson sniped one from Lefebvre just 51 seconds into the third period. The Rockets increased their lead to six when Williams scored his second of the game from Cole Hodges and Xavier Langevin at 2:30. 

The Castors got one back at 4:15 but the Rockets continued their assault as Jack Dewan fired one to the back of the net from Jack Van Kessel at 5:55. The Rockets closed out the scoring when Hunt scored his fourth of the game from Carroll at 8:16. 

The Rockets took the game 10-3 outshooting the Castors 64-41. Picking up the win in the Rockets’ goal was Sebastien Moreau making 38 saves.
