The Casselman Vikings welcomed the Whitewater Kings to the J. R. Brisson Complex on Thurs., Nov. 14, in the CCHL2. The Vikings welcomed a new player to their lineup in Joshua Desjardins (28). Desjardins played last season with the Hawkesbury Hawks Midget AAA scoring 15 goals and 27 assists for 60 points in 42 games. The Vikings dropped the game 2-1 in a defensively hard fought game. OTTAWA—The Casselman Vikings played a pair of games this past week as they welcomed the Whitewater Kings on Thursday morning and travelled to Ottawa on Saturday night to take on the Ottawa West Golden Knights.

The Casselman Vikings travelled to the Barbara Ann Scott Arena in Ottawa to take on the Ottawa West Golden Knights Sat., Nov. 16, in the CCHL2. The Vikings were coming off their fourth loss of the season to the Richardson Division’s seventh place team, the Whitewater Kings in their previous game and looked to get back on track.
The Vikings sat in first place just three points up on the Golden Knights who were holding down the second seed. The Golden Knights opened the scoring just 2:10 into the first period on the power play taking a 1-0 lead.
The Golden Knights took a two-goal lead at 13:56 and took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. The Vikings did outshoot the Golden Knights in the first period 15-11 but could not find the back of the net. The Golden Knights made it 3-0 just 1:56 into the second period and 4-0 at 6:30 on the power play.
The Vikings finally got on the scoreboard when Zachary Power scored his fourth goal of the season from Mathieu Talbot and Justin Grégoire at 11:02 on the power play. The Golden Knights regained a four-goal lead at 12:47 again on the power play but the Vikings got the one back when Talbot scored his 14th of the season from Nicolas Chartrand and Zachary Fournier at 17:23 on another power play.
The Golden Knights took a 5-2 lead into the second intermission. The teams played to a scoreless third period as the Golden Knights took the game 5-2 handing the Vikings their second consecutive loss. The Golden Knights moved to within one point of the Vikings in the Martin Division standings.
The Golden Knights outshot the Vikings 35-31. Suffering the loss in the Vikings’ goal was Nick Campbell making 30 saves.

The Casselman Vikings welcomed the Whitewater Kings to the J. R. Brisson Complex on Thurs., Nov. 14, for their second annual school day for an 11:30 a.m. start. The Vikings went into the game in first place with a five-point lead on the Ottawa West Golden Knights in second place in the Martin Division. The Kings sat in seventh place in the Richardson Division with just three wins on the season.
The Vikings were short a few bodies and had five affiliated players in their lineup. The teams battled to a scoreless first period in a fast two way back and forth with the Vikings outshooting the Kings 13-3.
The Vikings opened the scoring just 2:03 into the second period when Alexandre Charlebois blasted one from the point off of the left post and in for his sixth of the season unassisted. The Vikings took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Kings tied the game at 9:18 of the third period and with time winding down took their first lead of the game with just 1:56 remaining in regulation. The Vikings pulled their goalie in favour of an extra attacker with around 1:30 remaining and pressed to score but the Kings were able to handle the Vikings attempt to score taking the game 2-1.
The Kings picked up just their fourth win of the season over the number one team in the league. The Vikings dominated one the shot clock 42-17 but suffered their fourth loss of the season. Suffering the loss in the Vikings’ goal was Zachari Racine making 15 saves.
