The Russell Curling Club held their annual bonspiel Sat., Nov. 9, raising a total of $2,960, half for the local Snowsuit Fund and the other half for the Embrun Family Centre; to fund activities for the young families of the Embrun region. The bonspiel brought in 50 players and 20 supporting friends who participated in the all day event. The tournament was named after Michel Malboeuf who died unexpectedly of a heart attack in 2002. Both organizers chose to honour Michel by continuing the bonspiel in his name.
