RUSSELL —The St. Thomas Aquinas Senior Girls’ Basketball team welcomed the Russell High School T-Wolves on Wed., Sept. 25, in PRSSAA. This was both teams’ first games of the season so anything could happen.
T-Wolves 29 Ravens 22
The two teams sort of felt each other out in the first quarter with the T-Wolves outscoring the Ravens 4-2. The T-Wolves picked up the tempo in the second quarter scoring 10 points and holding the Ravens to just three. The T-Wolves took a 14-5 lead into the dressing room at halftime.
The Ravens had a better third quarter knocking down nine points but the T-Wolves matched that with nine points as well. The T-Wolves took a 23-14 lead into the final quarter. The Ravens outscored the T-Wolves in the fourth quarter 8-6 but it wasn’t enough as the T-Wolves took the game 29-21.
Scoring for the T-Wolves were Lola Palacios with 12 points, Megann Nolan with eight, Brooklyn Kinsella with four, Aryssa Henderson with three and Anna Schoeni with two.
Scoring for the Ravens were Meadow Donnelly-Gilman with 11 points, Sydnee Franche with six, Keely Zandbelt with three and Adelle Johnson with a deuce.
