WILLIAMSBURG—The Williamsburg Minor Pioneers played their last regular season game this past week as they welcomed the Kemptville 2 Wildcats on Tuesday night.

The Williamsburg Minor Pioneers welcomed the Kemptville 2 Wildcats to the J. C. Whitteker Ball Park on Tues., July 9, in the Upper Canada Little League. The Pioneers were on a roll after defeating the undefeated Winchester Sox in their previous game 11-0, as they looked to end their regular season on a high.
The Pioneers’ starting pitcher, Donovan Shaver struck out the first three Wildcat batters in the top of the first inning. The Pioneers heated up their bats in the bottom of the inning scoring the maximum five runs taking a 5-0 lead into the second inning.
The Wildcats got on the score sheet scoring two runs in the top of the second but the Pioneers countered that with three runs in the bottom of the inning taking an 8-2 lead into the third inning. The Pioneers’ pitcher, Ethan Nelson struck three of the next four Wildcat batters out holding them off the score sheet in the top of the third inning.
The Pioneers showed no mercy scoring five more runs in the bottom of the third, taking a 13-2 lead into the fourth inning. The Wildcats had their best inning of the game in the fourth, scoring three runs to move to within eight of the Pioneers.
The Pioneers added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth taking the game 15-5. Scoring the runs for the Pioneers were Nelson, Carter Froats, Emmett Lemire, Donovan Shaver and Callum Larocque with two each and Reed McCadden, Bennett Byvelds, Simon Martens, Christian Markell and James Barrie.
