RHS track stars at OFSAA

GUELPH—Russell High School Track & Field athletes were competing at the 2019 OFSAA Track & Field Championship at Guelph University this past weekend. Team members were able to watch and compete against the best high school track and field athletes in the province.
Daniel Kreft earned a chance to compete at OFSAA due to a scratch and he took full advantage of the opportunity. In the first heat of the Junior Boys’ 300 m hurdles, he ran hard to finish 3rd in his heat with a time of 40.39 seconds and advance to the finals. His time was 1.2 seconds better than his previous personal best and is a new school record. In the finals, Kreft overcame a minor mishap during his warm up to run a gutsy race and finish 8th overall.
Teagan Williams was competing in the Midget Boys’ 200 m sprint. Williams finished 6th in his heat with a time of 24.24 seconds and placed 18th overall.
Jacob Hill was in tough in the Midget Boys’ 3000 m with a large field of 24 runners. Hill ran 10 minutes and 17 seconds to place 20th overall.
