WINCHESTER – The Dundas County Hospice has served the locals of North and South Dundas through their various services since 1992, assisting anyone suffering from terminal or life-threatening illnesses.

To ensure they can continue serving in this community, several local businesses consisting of Main Street Clothing; Samantha’s Emporium; The Heritage House Health Spa and Barkley’s Shoes & Accessories organized a fundraiser on Sun., March 24 at The Old Town Hall in Winchester. The event raised $1,260 for the Hospice.

“This a fundraiser where local businesses get together to raise money and awareness for the Dundas County Hospice,” said Lisa Williams, owner of Main Street Clothing. “So, we’re doing a fashion show, a skin care demo, a make-up demo and lunch was provided by Cup of Jo’s.”

This is the second year the group has organized the fundraiser and according to Williams, the reception of the event has changed very little, with a substantial outcome.

“I would say the attendance is about the same,” said Williams. “The people really seem to be enjoying the demos and what we have to offer and it’s great to be doing this again.”

Along with the make-up and skincare demos, there were also small games and raffles to win prizes from the local businesses ranging from a spa day at Heritage House Health Spa to gift certificates from various shops. A total of nine local businesses joined in on the fundraiser demoing products and donating items for prizes including, Forever Young Creations, Barkley’s Shoes & Accessories, Cup of Jo’s, The Heritage House Health Spa, Samantha’s Emporium, Amy Tibben Independent Stella & Dot Stylist, SeneGence, CassBridge Gift Shop and Country Treasures.
