CHESTERVILLE – The Gathering House, located in the Fulton Block at the corner of Main and Water Street in Chesterville celebrated 25 years of ministry to the North Dundas community with an Open House on March 23 and a church service followed by a luncheon on March 24.
Approximately 60 people attended the Open House during Saturday afternoon which afforded an opportunity for church members and community members to visit and close to 160 people attended the Sunday service and meal.
The Gathering House, a member of the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada, has a history of working closely with the local community by providing meeting space at no cost to organizations, assisting with local events such as Art on the Waterfront, providing refreshments at the Café and holding community dinners on the last Friday of the month.
According to TGH Pastor Brian Barr, members from the Trinity Bible Church began Discovery Bible Fellowship in 1994 which met at Winchester Public School, with the move to the Fulton Block in Chesterville occurring about 10 years ago.
Pastor Archie Robinson and Pastor Tim Edwards who had both served the congregation previously were able to speak to those who attended the church service; Robinson in person and Edwards via a videotaped address.
In his address, Pastor Barr commented how moving forward they must ensure “God is working in and through us” and gave thanks for the past, present and future of The Gathering House ministry.
