CARDINAL—The North Dundas Major Midget Demons played two games this past week as they welcomed the Perth Lanark Blue Wings on Thursday night and travelled to Cardinal on Saturday night to take on the South Grenville Rangers.
Demons 7 Rangers 3
The North Dundas Major Midget Demons travelled to the Ingredion Centre in Cardinal to take on the South Grenville Rangers on Sat., Feb. 9, in the UCMHL. The Demons were coming off a tough 6-1 loss to the Perth Lanark Blue Wings in their previous game and sat in third place just three points behind the Cornwall Colts.
The Demons opened the scoring when Cam Sherrer launched one to the back of the net from Josh Broad and Dean Lapier just 1:12 into the first period taking a 1-0 lead. The Rangers promptly tied the game at 3:08 but the Demons retook the lead at 10:47 as Ben Fingler pounded one home from Nic Brugmans and Kendrew Byers. The Demons took a 2-1 lead into the second period.
The Rangers tied the game just 26 seconds into the second period but the Demons retook the lead again at 4:30 as Fingler scored his second of the game from Byers.
The Demons made it 4-2 when Sherrer scored his second of the game from Broad and Lapier at 6:06. The Rangers got back to within one at 11:02 but the Demons restored their two-goal lead with 1:52 remaining in the second as Blake Waters pounded one to the back of the net from Byers. The Demons took a 5-3 lead into the third period.
The Demons made it 6-3 when Sherrer completed his hat trick at 7:20 of the third period from Broad and goalie, Toby Byrne. The Demons closed out the scoring with two seconds remaining in the game as Curtis Bell scored an unassisted goal.
The Demons took the game 7-3 to move to within one point of the second place Colts. Picking up the win in the Demons’ goal was Byrne.
Blue Wings 6 Demons 1

The Blue Wings opened the scoring at 6:23 taking a 1-0 lead and took that lead into the second period.
The Demons tied the game when Colin Minish snapped one home from Dean Lapier at 5:19. The Blue Wings retook the lead with just 51 seconds remaining in the middle frame.
The Demons ran into penalty problems in the third period and the Blue Wings took advantage scoring four consecutive goals at 1:20, 2:55, 6:32 and 12:17. The Blue Wings took the game 6-1 handing the Demons their seventh loss of the season. Suffering the loss in the Demons’ goal was Liam Antille.
