Lions 4 Inferno 4
The Morrisburg Lions travelled to the W. Erskine Johnston Arena in Carp on Sat., Jan. 5, to take on the West Carleton Inferno in the NCJHL. The Lions went into the game in fourth place in the West Division just two points ahead of the Inferno after the Inferno upset the Metcalfe Jets the previous night.
The Inferno opened the scoring at 4:59 of the first period taking a 1-0 lead. The Lions evened the score when Zenin Biron swatted one home from Cal Bilmer at 12:16 on the power play. The teams took a one-all stalemate into the first intermission.
The Lions took their first lead of the game when Graham Robertson snapped one home from Kyle Ouellette just 42 seconds into the second period. The Lions made it 3-1 when Robertson scored his second goal of the game from Jensen Tysick and Biron at 5:45 and 4-1 at 9:29 as Bilmer batted one to the back of the net from Devin Burns. The Inferno got one back at 15:47 but trailed 4-2 heading into the second intermission.
The Inferno got to within one at 6:44 while shorthanded and tied the game at 12:51 on the power play. Neither team was able to score before the end of regulation so the game headed to a five-minute, three-on-three overtime period.
The Lions outshot the Inferno 6-2 in the overtime but neither were able to find the back of the net so the game ended in a four-all deadlock. The Lions outshot the Inferno 56-50. Playing in between the pipes for the Lions was Paulo Suppa making 46 saves.
