RUSSELL—The Russell High School T-Wolves’ Junior boys basketball team played three games over the past two weeks as they travelled to Embrun on Mon., Dec. 10, to take on the Cyclones, to Rockland on Wed., Dec. 12, to take on the Wildcats and welcomed the Casselman Dynamos this past Wednesday.
Dynamos 72 T-Wolves 58
The Russell High School T-Wolves’ Junior boys basketball team welcomed the École Secondaire Catholique de Casselman Dynamos on Wed., Dec. 20, in PRSSAA. The T-Wolves were coming off a pair of wins and were looking to extend their winning streak to three games.
The Dynamos took the early lead scoring 20 first-quarter points but the T-Wolves kept pace knocking down 17. The Dynamos offence kicked it up a gear in the second quarter raining down 26 more points. The T-Wolves answered with 10 points but trailed 46-27 heading into the break at the half.
The T-Wolves battled back in the third quarter outscoring the Dynamos 15-11. The Dynamos took a 57-42 lead into the final stanza. The T-Wolves battled hard in the fourth quarter but the Dynamos’ power was just too much, outscoring the T-Wolves 15-13.
The Dynamos took the game 72-55. Scoring for the T-Wolves were Scott Roos with 25, T. W. with 12, Ruben Jaquemet with nine, Evan House and Sam Peters each scored four and Charlie Pascoe added a single.
T-Wolves 43 Wildcats 25
The Russell High School T-Wolves’ Junior boys basketball team travelled to Rockland District High School on Wed., Dec. 12, to take on the Wildcats in PRSSAA. The T-Wolves were coming off an impressive 45-39 victory over the École Secondaire Catholique Embrun Cyclones and looked to put a streak together.
The T-Wolves started the game on fire dropping 11 points and they totally shut the door on the Wildcats allowing nothing in. The Wildcats squeaked close 4-3 score in the second quarter but trailed 14-7 heading into the dressing room at halftime.
The T-Wolves doubled their scoring output with another 14 points in the third quarter allowing just three points against the Dynamos taking a 28-10 lead into the fourth quarter. It was a total offensive final quarter with both teams knocking down 15 points but the T-Wolves hit the road with a 43-25 victory.
Scoring for the T-Wolves were Scott Roos with 15, T. W. with eight, Ruben Jaquemet with six, Charlie Pascoe, J. H. and Sam Peters each with three and Matt Marsh and Evan Houle with deuces.
T-Wolves 45 Cyclones 39
The Russell High School T-Wolves’ Junior boys basketball team travelled to the École Secondaire Catholique Embrun on Mon., Dec. 10, to take on the Cyclones in PRSSAA. The T-Wolves got off to a good start scoring 17 first-quarter points but their defence was just a little loose allowing 13.
The Cyclones narrowly outscored the T-Wolves 16-11 in the second quarter but the T-Wolves took a slim 29-28 lead into the break at the half. The T-Wolves owned the Cyclones in the third quarter dropping 17 points.
The Cyclones were only able to score five and trailed 45-34 heading into the final stanza. The Cyclones shutout the T-Wolves in the fourth quarter 5-0. The T-Wolves took the game 45-39.
Scoring for the T-Wolves were Scott Roos with 26 points, T. W. with 10, Ruben Jaquemet with seven and Sam Peters with a deuce.
