MORRISBURG — The Morrisburg Lions played just a single game this past weekend as they welcomed the Metcalfe Jets on Sunday afternoon.

The Morrisburg Lions welcomed the Metcalfe Jets to the Morrisburg Arena on Sun., Nov. 11, in the NCJHL. The Lions went into the game in a fourth place tie with the Jets and looked to move a couple points ahead. The Jets opened the scoring just 1:15 into the first period as Quinn Bowman scored from Evan Mantha taking a 1-0 lead.
The Jets made it 2-0 when Thomas Ouderkirk scored from Mantha and James Horvath at 3:29 but the Lions got that one back at 4:13 as Devon Burn found the back of the net from Aaron Smith and Brennan Revell.
The Lions tied the game at 11:23 as Burns scored his second of the game from Zach Leblanc and Zenin Biron on the power play. The Jets retook the lead at 16:12 when Austin Gough scored an unassisted goal and took a two-goal lead when Mantha scored from Alex Cloutier with just seven seconds remaining while shorthanded.
The Jets took a 4-2 lead into the first intermission. The Jets made it 5-2 at 7:25 of the second period as Horvath scored from A. J. McRae and Bowman. The Lions got to within two when Leblanc scored from Jacob Robinson and Biron at 7:59.
The Jets kept the pressure on scoring another goal at 8:54 as Devon Upton potted one from Gough and Jarrett Ladouceur to make it 6-3. The Jets added a late goal at 17:36 as Horvath scored his second of the game unassisted and took a 7-3 lead into the second intermission.
It was all Jets in the third period beginning with a goal scored by Ladouceur just 1:49 in from Alex MacNeil and Upton. The Jets made it 9-3 as Zach Nolan scored from Gough and McRae on the power play at 6:34 and 10-3 at 10:56 as Nolan scored his second of the game from Horvath and Gough.
The Jets kept it rolling as Ouderkirk scored his second of the game from McRae and Nolan at 11:39 to make it 11-3 and made it 12-3 with 3:04 remaining as Upton scored an unassisted goal.
The Jets embarrassed the Lions with a 12-3 victory. The Jets outshot the Lions 41-29. Picking up the win in the Jets’ goal was Danik Turcotte and suffering the loss in goal for the Lions was Morgan Penwell.
