WILLIAMSTOWN—The Embrun Panthers had a busy week playing three games as they travelled to Ottawa on Tuesday night to take on the Jr. Canadians, welcomed the Richmond Royals on Friday night and travelled to Williamstown on Saturday night to take on the Char-Lan Rebels.
Panthers 3 Rebels 2
The Embrun Panthers travelled to the Char-Recreation Centre in Williamstown on Sat., Oct. 27, to take on the Rebels in the CCHL2. The Panthers went into the game in sixth place in the Martin Division and were coming off a 5-4 victory over the Richmond Royals and owned a record of 3-10-1-0-0.
The Panthers opened the scoring late in the first period as Owen Nevins fired home his second goal of the season with just 1:59 remaining unassisted. The Panthers took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Rebels scored the only two goals of the second period at 10:41 and 16:05 on the power play and took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. The Panthers tied the game just 3:47 into the third period as Nathan Brown scored his second of the season from Jeremy Cyr.
The Panthers retook the lead when Aidan Whynot scored his second of the season from Brown with just 2:22 remaining in regulation making it 3-2. With over a minute and a half left on the clock, the Rebels pulled their goalie in favour of an extra attacker to try to score the equalizer.
The Panthers were able to hold the Rebels offence at bay as they hung on for the 3-2 victory picking up their fourth point of the weekend. The Panthers outshot the Rebels 33-24 and picking up the win in the goal was Cody MacEachern making 22 saves on 24 shots.
Panthers 5 Royals 4
The Embrun Panthers welcomed the Richmond Royals to the Palais des Sports on Fri., Oct. 26, in the CCHL2. The Panthers sat in sixth place in the Martin Division and were coming off an impressive outing against the first place Ottawa Jr. Canadians losing the game 3-1.
The Panthers opened the scoring at 5:57 when Joey Larcher scored his first goal of the season from Marc Brosseau to take a 1-0 lead. The Panthers made it 2-0 when Philippe Plante scored his fourth goal of the season from Connor Drost at 11:21.
The Panthers took a three-goal lead when Robert Beaudoin scored his second of the season on the power play from Benjamin Hamilton and Owen Nevins with just 1:04 remaining in the opening frame.
The Panthers took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. The Royals came out of the gate in the second period scoring three consecutive goals at 4:01, 5:47 and 7:02 to tie the game.
The Panthers retook the lead when Beaudoin scored his third of the season and second of the game from Brosseau, while shorthanded at 14:30. The Panthers took a 4-3 lead into the second intermission.
The Royals tied the game 3:51 into the third period on the power play. The Panthers retook the lead at 11:30 as Brosseau scored his fourth of the season from Drost and Larcher to make it 5-4.
The Royals pulled their goalie with just over a minute remaining in regulation in favour of an extra attacker but the Panthers were able to hang on for the victory.
The Panthers outshot the Royals 42-40. Picking up the win in the Panthers’ goal was Joshua Ivanski making 36 saves on 40 shots.
Canadians 3 Panthers 1
The Embrun Panthers travelled to the Earl Armstrong Arena in Ottawa to take on the Ottawa Jr. Canadians on Tues., Oct. 23, in the CCHL2. The game was a tough test for the Panthers as the Canadians had yet to lose this season.
The Canadians opened the scoring at 15:33 of the first period taking a 1-0 lead. The Panthers tied the game when Alex Rossides scored his second goal of the season on the power play unassisted with just 45 seconds remaining in the opening frame.
The teams took a one-all draw into the first intermission. The Canadians made it 2-1 at 17:37 of the second period on the power play. The Canadians took the 2-1 lead into the second intermission.
The Canadians took a two-goal lead just 1:51 into the third period. The Panthers pressed to get closer but were unable to find the back of the net as the Canadians took the game 3-1. Suffering the loss in the Panthers’ goal was Cody MacEachern making 35 saves on 38 shots.
