RUSSELL – The organizers of the Russell Run are encouraging runners of all ages and abilities to participate in the ninth annual community run on Sat., May 12. Hosted by the Russell Community Sport Club’s RUN CLUB and supported by Strength Craze, the event promotes physical activity and healthy living within the community.
There are two events during the Russell Run. First up is a 1.2 km Kids Fun Run at 9 a.m. that takes place on the grounds of Russell High School. Entry fees are $5. The Kids Fun Run is followed by a 5 km Fun Run and Road Race at 9:30 a.m. Entry fees are $20 for adults and $10 for those 19-and under, with a discount for groups of eight or more. Although the 5 km Run starts and finishes on the Russell High School track, the majority of the 5 km route takes to the streets and nature trail, which are made safe by Township Bylaw Officers and the Russell Fire Department, as well as community volunteers.
Advanced online registration is open for both runs by going to the events safe and secure online registration system through www.russellcommunitysportclub.ca.
