Farmers need foot care too

CRYSLER – Glaudale Farms of Berwick was named premier exhibitor, with 144 points, at the Stormont Seed and Forage Show awards, which wrapped up the Crysler Farm Show on Fri., March 2. The prize of plaque and $250 was presented by Paul Oosterhof of Dow Seeds Finch Feed & Seed. Kevin Glaude accepted that award and seven other seed or forage awards.
Reserve premier exhibitor was Paynebranch Farms of Finch, with 78 points. Premier first-time exhibitor was Claude Farley of Berwick. Farley also won the champion forage exhibit of hay, haylage, baleage and corn silage. Other winners included Bill van Loon, Threeloos Farms, Roger Lafrance and Domar Farms. Top exhibits will move on to the Ottawa Valley Farm Show at the EY Centre March 13-15.
The Crysler Farm Show filled the Crysler Community Centre, and big machines were parked in the covered rink area. Besides the seed and forage exhibits, farm service companies had about 20 booths. Stormont 4-H had a large display including beautiful quilts made by the quilting club last year to celebrate Canada 150. Those quilts are also going to the OVFS.
The school children in Crysler got to take advantage of the show too, as students from different grades at Ecole élémentaire catholique Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire, which is across the street, took turns visiting throughout the day.
