MORRISBURG – Upper Canada Village’s dazzling holiday entertainment is back with a bang this year. The 2017 Alight-at-Night got underway on the first weekend of December and will run until Jan. 6. The spectacular lighted grounds feature over one-million Christmas lights, decorated on every building and many of the trees and fixtures throughout the village.
New this year is the Twinkle Town area for kids to enjoy winter bouncy castles and games. This “magical setting of winter-themed play areas for wee ones is all set among twinkling, musical trees,” according to the website. Parents and friends are encouraged to enter and keep a watchful eye. Play areas are weather dependent.
Christmas carols ring out through the Christ Church doors urging guests to join in and hot chocolate can be found at a few stops along the route to keep visitors warm on their stroll.
Santa Claus has also been known to find himself in one of the heritage buildings – the Crysler Hall, or “Saint Nick’s Merry Mansion” – ready to hear children’s wishes. Parents can take photos or for a fee UCV will provide a framed photo.
