AVONMORE – Local resident and historian Murray Barkley, with his wife Pilar, hosted the official launch of his new book: Speaking of Avonmore Once Again: More Lives, Legends, Lies and Legacies, on Sun., Nov. 19, from 1-3 p.m., at St. James United Church, in Avonmore. Barkley gave a brief overview of this new collection of historical and anecdotal tributes to the village, as well as relating a few humorous quotes from colourful characters of long ago. A light lunch and refreshments were enjoyed by a fair crowd, who braved the cold and snowy day, eager to get a personally signed copy of the book. The book will be now be available at Barkley’s Store, Avonmore, Ranger’s Convenience in Monkland, the Avonmore Christmas Craft Sale (Dec. 2 and 3), or directly from Barkley himself (613-346-2350).
