Russell Meadows ready for the parade
Seen here are a few of the Russell Meadows Retirement Community residents who were gathered in the main lounge awaiting their transportation – many of whom rode in antique cars in the parade, in spite of the rain. After the parade, the residents gathered for their lunch with a gracious speech by Doris Leclerc who welcomed all to join in her a toast to celebrate Canada’s 150th. Carruthers photo
At the Royal Canadian Legion Russell Branch 372 Canada breakfast, Seargant-at-Arms and Past-President Wilton Gamble greeted visitors (many in red and white) with Canadian flags and the offer of a freewill donation. The annual event was as usual well attended with patrons waiting in line outside around the building, braving the rain with umbrellas and an unmatched community spirit. Carruthers photo
