WINCHESTER – 25 years ago on Jan. 4, 1999, Dundas Feed and Seed in Winchester opened their doors. Fast forward to September 12 and Ross Giles held a party celebrating 25 years in business with friends, family and customers at the store.
Giles explained his business sells livestock feed for all species, a selection of seed for crops as well as bird seed, pet food and a large selection of items such as fencing, shovels and pitchforks.
“We are committed to your success is the mindset of the company and its employees”, with Giles noting this incorporates the motto of the business, Committed to Your Success” into their business practices.
When asked about what he enjoys most about the business, he responded, it is dealing with customers, and the friendships he has developed with the public over the years. One of the recent additions to his fleet is a bulk truck, which like the delivery truck, is used daily to deliver feed and seed to customers.
About 70 people attended the later afternoon event which featured a barbeque brisket, hamburgers, a celebratory cake and other light refreshments.
Carolyn Thompson Goddard, grew up in Chesterville and attended North Dundas District High School. After completing her BA in Political Science at Carleton University she has worked as a medical secretary and library technician. In 2020 she graduated from Algonquin College with a diploma in Journalism and has been a reporter and column writer for The Chesterville Record for over 10 years.
