The Williamsburg Junior Senior Pioneers welcomed Cornwall #4 to the J. C. Whitteker Ball Park on Wed., June 7, in the Upper Canada Little League. The Pioneers’ Raiden Irvine (batter) gives the ball a ride for a single and an RBI in the second inning. Irvine and the Pioneers went on to take the game 16-4.

WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Junior Senior Pioneers had just a single game this past week as they welcomed Cornwall #4 on Thursday night.

The Williamsburg Junior Senior Pioneers welcomed Cornwall #4 to the J. C. Whitteker Ball Park on Wed., June 7, in the Upper Canada Little League. The Pioneers went into the game with just a single loss on the season and looked to keep the wins coming. Cornwall opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with two runs but left the bases loaded.
The Pioneers answered with five runs in the bottom of the first inning taking a 5-2 lead into the second inning. The Pioneers’ pitcher Dean Lapier sat the next three Cornwall batters down with three strikeouts.
The Pioneers scored two runs in the bottom of the second taking a 7-2 lead into the third inning. Cornwall got five batters to the plate but Lapier sat two of them down and held two on base. The Pioneers scored four more runs in the top of the third inning and took a commanding 11-2 lead into the fourth inning.
Cornwall finally got to Lapier in the top of the fourth scoring two runs and held the Pioneers off the score sheet in the bottom of the inning but trailed 11-4 heading into the fifth inning. Cornwall got two runners on base but the Pioneers’ pitcher Tory Barnett struck the next three batters out.
The Pioneers added five more runs in the bottom of the inning. The game ended after the end of the fifth inning due to curfew as the Pioneers took the game 16-4.
Scoring the runs for the Pioneers were Tory Barnett with three, Dean Lapier, Devon Swindells, Noah Keeler and Kendrew Byers each scored twice and Nolan Henry, Parker Baker, Mclean Machan and Isaiah Summers each scored singles. Henry pitched the first inning, Lapier pitched the second, third and fourth and Barnett finished the game.
