INGLESIDE – South Stormont Fun Raisers recently presented a cheque for $5576.50 to Carefor South Stormont Support Centre for their Meals on Wheels Program.
“We financially support several local charities in our community during the year, however our main goal is to build a band shell in the township.” explained SSFR Chair Dave Smith, mentioning the club has “a generous amount already saved for that” once land is transferred to the municipality from the St. Lawrence Parks Commission. He continued the band shell would provide a venue for activities to support charities and clubs in the community to fundraise for their organizations, as well as increasing tourism and businesses in the municipality. “Our belief is the bandshell will be a gift that keeps on giving.” said Smith.
“We are so grateful to organizations like “The Fun Raisers” for their continued support toward Carefor’s South Stormont Support Centre meal’s delivery service and the clients we assist.
With the escalating cost of living, donations such as this allow us to provide nutritious meals and essential services to those in need within our community.” said Michele Morgan, Supervisor Carefor Health and Community Services.
There are several upcoming activities organized by the South Stormont Fun Raisers planned for the near future. These include a scavenger hunt on May 10 and 11, with a golf tournament on June 22 and a Classic Car & Bike Show on Sept. 7. More information on these upcoming events will be available on the organization’s social media sites soon.
