Official groundbreaking for the Sports Dome

EMBRUN – The groundbreaking ceremony for the Russell Sports Dome project took place under sunny skies at the site off Notre Dame St. in Embrun on Wed., May 17, although the project had actually started a few days earlier and heavy machinery was already preparing the ground.
Representatives from the Township of Russell, the Russell Kin Club, the Township Environmental Advisory Committee, McIntosh Perry, Tofcon Construction and Township staff crowded in front o
f the construction fence for photos. Mayor Pierre Leroux said a few words and said the new Sports Dome would be “a jewel for our community.” He thanked everyone involved in the project, particularly the Russell Kin Club, which kicked it off in the first place, and which continues its fundraising drive.
The Dome is projected to be completed this year, in December.
