LONG SAULT – Friendly Circle Seniors in South Stormont held their annual “Theme Nite” event on May 6 at the South Stormont Community Hall in Long Sault.
Event organizer Gloria Waldroff was pleased with the turn-out, noting there were several of the tables decorated in themes such as Happy Days and the New Orleans Mardi Gras. Mayor Bryan McGillis and his wife Cindy were the judges of the table decoration and costume winners.
Waldroff continued there were eight tables decorated for the event and noted choosing the winners was a difficult job as the tables were well decorated. Jan Milnes was the winner of the best costume award. SDSG MP Eric Duncan was the celebrity auctioneer for the live auction held during an intermission.
On behalf of the Friendly Circle Seniors Club, Waldroff wishes to extend a sincere thank you to “Kevin and Jean-Marc Rivette for the great entertainment, student volunteers Pyper, Morgan and Avery for their assistance, O’Neill’s Pub for the excellent dinner service as well as the local businesses who donated items for the live and silent auctions.
Friendly Circle Seniors Club is planning to hold a seniors’ health and wellness event in September and the popular Christmas Market in November.
Carolyn Thompson Goddard, grew up in Chesterville and attended North Dundas District High School. After completing her BA in Political Science at Carleton University she has worked as a medical secretary and library technician. In 2020 she graduated from Algonquin College with a diploma in Journalism and has been a reporter and column writer for The Chesterville Record for over 10 years.
