RIVERSIDE HEIGHTS – Nation Valley Snowmobile Association and the Mountain Trailblazers Club held their 2022 Snowarama on Sat., March 5 with approximately 20 participants. The annual event is dedicated to the memory of Jean MacDougal and Debbie McHaffie-Strader and began close to 50 years ago.

A pancake breakfast at the George Jowett Memorial Hall in Riverside Heights South Dundas started the event. Heather Cooke-Erwin, who has organized this event for 30 years, explained that Raistrick Farm Services, the Morrisburg Leo Club and the Riverside Recreation Committee sponsored the breakfast, with proceeds from the meal provided to Easter Seals. 

Cooke-Erwin said that the snowmobilers followed a route which ended at the Mountain Trailblazer Club House and had “an outdoor wiener roast” to close the event. She expects that close to five thousand dollars has been raised for Easter Seals from the online auction, breakfast, wiener roast, donations and snowarama.

One of the guests at the kick-off breakfast was Linda Cloutier and her family from Kingston. Cloutier is the community engagement officer for Easter Seals. She explained Easter Seals is celebrating a centennial service to the community. The organization seeks to provide support to children living with disabilities and their families through a variety of programs.
