MAPLE RIDGE – North Dundas District High School (NDDHS) held their senior fashion show fundraiser on Fri., May 5. The show was organized by Megan Derick, Minister of Social Activities for the NDDHS student council.
The fashion show is an annual fundraiser going back 15 to 20 years for NDDHS. The funds raised for admission go towards the senior Prom. Julianna’s Bridal donated 17 dresses to be modelled and students used their own wardrobes to recreate fashion from many different decades. Derick was able to wrangle 22 models from the Grade 12 class to be in the show. To make things more fun for the fashionistas, models were given silly string and water squirt guns to pepper the audience while they were strutting their stuff.
Planning for the fashion show begins almost immediately when the new student council is elected but Principal Brenda Beaudette said Derick and her team put their noses to the grindstone during the last six weeks. The council would meet for many lunch hours and after school meetings to organize the event, and on the day of had the help of the drama class for lighting and set up.
The Grade 12 class looked to be having a blast as they showed off a number of formal options for Prom and vintage styles from back in the day.
