Weeks from now all thoughts of snow should be nothing but a memory when the South Dundas Home and Trade Show takes place at the Morrisburg arena. It comes the week following a similar event being hosted by The Township of North Dundas and the North Dundas Chamber of Commerce. Tinkess Photo

DUNDAS COUNTY – This week we thought we would cast the spotlight a bit wider because there are a couple events fast approaching where many businesses deserving of your attention will be gathered together. Spring really is upon us, (despite another late season snowstorm), and that means trade show season is just around the corner as well. This year, visitors to and residents of Dundas County, both North and South will have an opportunity to meet and talk with representatives of some of the most successful local small businesses and they can do it on two successive weekends.

On Sat., April 26 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The North Dundas 2025 Local Business Expo will take place at the Joel Steele Community Centre on the arena floor and upstairs in the Joel Steele community centre. The Expo is a collaboration between the Township of North Dundas and the North Dundas Chamber of Commerce. At last count there were 100 exhibitors offering a wide range of products and services, all of these offered by local Canadian Businesses.

Who is going to be there? Well, the list is too long to print here, but there are long-time favourites as well as some exciting, new businesses. These are just of a few of the businesses that you will find:

  • Samurai Arts Academy
  • HealthGirl Canada
  • CSN D’s Collision Centre
  • Scouts Canada – Camp Sheldrick
  • Marriner Design
  • Garden Villa Retirement Residence
  • North Dundas Building Supplies
  • The Garden Gate.
  • Cloverdale Links Golf Course
  • Tiny Shiny Rock Shop
  • Simply Baked Catering
  • Scheeps Caramels Co.

For a full list of registered vendors and service providers, you can visit the Township of North Dundas website (northdundas.com).

In addition to the large number of vendors there will also be special activities, such as “Touch A Truck,” dance and martial art demonstrations and a magic show.

Taking this all in will almost certainly make you a bit hungry, but there will be food vendors on site as well to help deal with that problem.

The following week attention switches to The Morrisburg Arena in South Dundas for the evening of May 2, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sat., May 3 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. for the South Dundas Home and Trade Show. More than 70 local vendors are expected to attend and take advantage of the opportunity to showcase what they have to offer.

In addition to the vendors there will be several presentations as well, such as the Giant Tiger fashion show and short presentations by some of the individual vendors, and there will be door prizes as well.

And there will, of course be a selection of food items to choose from, because shopping is hungry work!

With all the attention being given to both shopping local and shopping Canadian, what better way to find out just what is available than to be able to visit with them all gathered under one roof. You can find just about anything you need close to home, and when you shop local you are making an investment in your community as well as the people who serve you. And in most cases, “The owner is in the store.”

We’ll see you there!
