WILLIAMSBURG – Community Food Share (CFS) held their 2025 Annual General Meeting on Mon., March 25 in the J.W. MacIntosh Community Support Services which is located in the South Dundas community of Williamsburg.
Close to 20 people attended the event which featured reports from 2025 CFS Board Chairperson Dan Gasser, Treasurer Ellen Biemond and an overview of the work of the organization in 2024 presented by CFS Team Leader Jane Schoones.
After a warm welcome and land acknowledgement by Gasser, he spoke on 2024 being a successful year, thanking the volunteers, staff members and board of directors for their dedicated work to ensure their clients are able to access needed resources. He explained that the demand for their assistance has increased, with one of the challenges faced by CFS is in the increased prices of food. Gasser noted the CFS has a new location in North Stormont, there is work being done to revise CFS policy as well as ensuring the deadline to meet Food Banks Canada’s Standard of Excellence is a priority for the coming year.
Biemond presented a financial report as well as the budget for the coming year. The report mentioned that donations, which includes the value of food as well as money donations, to CFS were up in 2024, but noted how grocery spending has also increased. The 2025 CFS budget was presented and discussed before it was passed.
