CRYSLER – Upon entering Crysler Home Hardware, there is a friendliness which permeates throughout the store, welcoming customers and offering assistance to them.

The hardware store in Crysler has been a Home Hardware dealer since 1964, with Home Hardware being 100% Canadian owned, and each store owner a shareholder in the corporation.

“I am very honoured to be working in the building so many of my family had.” said current owner Mark Begg, before explaining his great-grandfather had begun a hardware business in Crysler. This business was purchased by his son, and Mark’s grandfather, Stewart Albert Begg in 1924. With a sense of understandable pride and a smile he noted that his children are the fifth generation of the Begg family to be part of the hardware business in Crysler.

Mark mentioned how as a youngster he had wished his Dad, David Begg, would purchase the store, explaining how his father had worked here in his early adult life before pursuing other retail opportunities. In 2017 the opportunity arose for Mark to purchase Crysler Home Hardware and the business was once again operated by members of the Begg family.

In addition to providing clients with paint, which is made in Ontario by Home Hardware, there is a wide selection of goods and services provided by Crysler Home Hardware. These include access to most hardware needs, key cutting, lock repair, knife sharpening, automotive, electrical, and plumbing supplies, flooring, and screen repair.

When considering home renovation projects, CHH provide planning assistance, free estimates, assistance and a list of approved contractors. Crysler Home Hardware is a M&M Food Express, as well as being an LCBO Convenience Outlet and Beer Store Retail Partner.

Mark mentioned his greatest enjoyment about running the business and what makes Crysler Home Hardware a wonderful place to be each day are the staff at CCH and customers. It is the opportunity for Mark and the staff to assist clients with the various types of challenges encountered with home repairs as very rewarding.

A local business is crucial to maintaining the identity and vitality of a small town or rural area. Mark mentioned that serving customers is an important part of any business, Mark mentions how businesses are vital to small villages and rural areas. Local businesses are able to support community organizations as well as provide people with to provide people with access to a variety of products close to home.
