It took a lot of work and the support of both the Township of North Stormont and Community Food Share (CFS), but there is now a CFS Satellite location at 4 John St. in Finch (west corner of the arena.) FINCH – Community Food Share (CFS) is pleased to announce the opening of a new satellite location in Finch (North Stormont), at 4 John Street. This new location, situated at the front of the arena on the west side opposite the library, was made possible through a collaboration between CFS and the North Stormont Municipal Council. Special thanks to CAO Craig Calder for his assistance in securing this space, which will support residents facing food insecurity.

In the heat of late August, the floor was painted, and a new refrigerator, freezer, and storage cabinet were purchased, the table and shelving were assembled, and the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) inspection passed, ensuring access to healthy, nutritious food that meets the highest standards of quality and freshness.

“It has been a long road to find this new location, but we’re thrilled to finally offer this service thanks to the support of Craig Calder and the North Stormont Council,” says Jane Schoones, Team Leader at Community Food Share.

The Finch location will be staffed on Thursday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for food order pick-up.

Clients can now arrange to pick up food in Finch by contacting our Winchester CFS Food Bank before 8 p.m. on Wednesday to schedule an appointment. During the call, our staff will conduct a brief intake interview and review the shopping list to ensure we meet each family’s specific needs. Food orders are prepared at our Winchester location and transported to Finch early Thursday afternoons, where our new setup includes shelving and refrigeration units for proper food handling. Clients can pick up their orders between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.  at the Finch arena location, just west of the main entrance.

Alternatively, clients are welcome to visit our Winchester CFS food bank location during open hours to shop for themselves. The Winchester CFS Food Bank is open for 6 hours each week, giving clients the flexibility to choose their food items in person.
