WINCHESTER – The final event for the 2024 Meet Me on Main Street community get togethers was held on Wed., July 30 at the Sam Ault Arena in Winchester.

Despite a wet weather forecast which necessitated the event’s relocation to the arena, the evening was sunny, warm and a lot of fun for people from all parts of the municipality and beyond its borders.

“Residents of North Dundas love to have the opportunity to gather and visit.” commented North Dundas Mayor Tony Fraser. He continued, “despite the weather challenges through the 2024 season, planners were able to provide alternative venues for the event.”

There was plenty of activities during the event for people to enjoy. The Winchester Curling Club provided an opportunity to try out the game of curling, while the North Dundas Cornhole League gave people a chance to play Cornhole.

Aaron Dellah, a Winchester Dairyfest organizer, brought the Mario Kart Racing course. People had a whole lot of fun sending their favourite Mario character around the racetrack or perhaps bumping into another one.   Hillbilly Highway performed at the event, with people enjoying listening to the music or dancing the night away.

After working up an appetite trying out one of the games or socializing with friends those attending the event had a multitude of dinner choices to choose from.

Smokie Ridge Brewery and Vineyard, Rurban Brewing, Lost Villages Brewery and King’s Lock Craft Distillery were among the vendors at the event.  For those looking for a bite to eat there were several choices. These included Country Kitchen Restaurant, Fat Les’s Chip Stand, Sandy Row Golf Club and Restaurant as well as Simply Baked Catering. Morewood Recreation Association provided people with the chance to enjoy a hot dog, hamburger and a variety of snack items during the event.

“These events are a fantastic way for the community to get together and have a great time. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this year’s planning of Meet Me on Main Street events. Thank you to everyone that participated!” said North Dundas Special Events Coordinator Gabryelle Willis.

The 2024 Meet Me On Main Street series of events is over, with many looking forward to next year’s opportunity to get together with friends old and new, relatives and visitors to the area. These events do not happen without the careful and meticulous planning and a big thank you must be extended to all who ensured that these events provided an opportunity for all to enjoy an evening out.
