RUSSELL – Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada have announced the awarding of two grants to Russell Township Fire Department. The grants help to ensure first responders have the necessary equipment to keep community members and themselves safe.

Station 11 in Embrun received $10,948 to purchase a Paratech Basic Control Kit, three lift bags, and accessories, while Station 12 in Russell received $7,780 to purchase a positive pressure ventilation (PPV) ventilation fan, fulfilling a critical need within the department.

“On behalf of the department and its members, I want to thank the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada and our local Firehouse Subs in Ottawa for recognizing our needs and awarding funding to provide this equipment,” said Brian McBain, Fire Chief for Russell Township Fire Department. “Providing first responders with the right tools is crucial for us to successfully do our jobs.”

The new PPV ventilation fan, and Paratech Basic Control Kit, and lift bags will be used to enhance emergency response capabilities and improve safety measures within the community. These tools will enable firefighters to swiftly and effectively mitigate various emergency situations, such as structural collapses, vehicle extrications, and hazardous material incidents.

The equipping of first responders with these essential resources, helps ensure prompt and efficient emergency services, ultimately safeguarding the well-being of residents and enhancing the overall resilience of Russell Township.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada has awarded 331 grants to public safety organizations since 2015 and are two of 19 Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada awarded to public safety organizations during the most recent grant cycle. The 19 grants will provide critical lifesaving equipment valued at more than $530,000 across Ontario.

These grants are part of more than $3.7 million given by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada to public safety organizations across Canada.
