Supporting the Scouts braved the chilly weather on Sat., Jan. 6 for their annual bottle drive and raised over one thousand dollars. “The monies raised will help our Troop (youth 10 – 14 years old) attend a summer camp. This will be the first time since COVID that we will be doing a one-week summer camp., explained Scouter Cindy Hauck in an email to The Record. On behalf of 2nd Russell Scout Troop she expressed thanks to Embrun Independent for the use of the parking lot, the Beer Store for “making the process of returning items very easy” and the community for their donations and support. Carolyn Thompson Goddard, grew up in Chesterville and attended North Dundas District High School. After completing her BA in Political Science at Carleton University she has worked as a medical secretary and library technician. In 2020 she graduated from Algonquin College with a diploma in Journalism and has been a reporter and column writer for The Chesterville Record for over 10 years.
