Sean Donovan and Terry Foley of the North Dundas Fire Services were kept busy most of the evening talking to people young and old about fire prevention and the little things they can do to make their homes safer. Tinkess Photo
HALLVILLE – Hallville had its turn at hosting Meet Me on Main St. on Wed., July 19, and the sun shone brightly, and people showed up early because what better way is there to spend a summer’s evening than with good people, good food, good entertainment, and a cold beverage or two?
Each of the Meet Me events so far have been a little different from each other. Some started slowly but then picked up the pace, others were steady from beginning to end. In Hallville it seemed people had been looking forward to the evening and crowds were streaming in right from the beginning.
With Cory Coons providing the music there was a party atmosphere right from the get-go, and on a warm evening like this, many people saw the wisdom in picking up dinner at one of the food vendors like Simply Baked, The Country Kitchen, and Sandy Row Golf Club, to name a few.
North Dundas Fire Services, SDG Library, and the Township of North Dundas were all present, answering questions and handing out information. You could even give corn hole a try!
Windmill Brewery, Smokey Ridge Vineyard and Kings Lock Craft Distillery were all in attendance, doing their best to provide cold beverages to those of age, and there did seem to be a lot of thirsty people.
There were local dignitaries in attendance: Mayor Tony Fraser and Coun. Gary Annable were present and MP Eric Duncan also dropped by. It wasn’t a night of speeches though; it was a time to connect or reconnect, to listen, but enjoy the evening just like everyone else.
The best part of all though was to be outside and spending time with friends and family. We’re still bouncing back from the period of separation we endured for a couple years, so every opportunity to spend time with the people in the community is an opportunity worth taking. I’d bet that most people on Kerr’s Ridge Road last Wednesday would agree with me.
