RUSSELL – Come join in the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the Police Village of Russell on Fri., June 23! Join us at the Keith M. Boyd Museum at 1150 Concession St. for a birthday party complete with a birthday cake, ice cream, fresh strawberries, and lemonade. Festivities begin with a mini concert performed by the Russell Village Ringers, a new musical group under the direction of Debra Bourne, at 7 PM in the Fire Hall Museum.
Following the cake cutting ceremony, there will be a meet and greet with Russell Village’s own stunt daredevil, Awfle Knawfle. Known affectionately as AK; he made 11 attempts to cross the Castor River during the Russell Lions sponsored Canada Day celebrations in the 1990s. He was successful on three attempts, once on a snowmobile and another time he rode a bicycle across a steel cable suspended over the river. He will be on hand to sign autographs and to open a new exhibit celebrating his many exploits. AK is doing a fundraiser for
