CRYSLER – There is a certain enjoyment to reading a book in the outdoors on a warm summer day. Patrons of the Crysler Branch, Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry Library have been able to do that since the outdoor sitting area was opened last summer. The area has two benches, three flowerpots and a table and chairs and has become a favourite place for people to gather.
Over the winter, a contest was held to choose a name for the area. At noon on June 10, North Stormont Deputy Mayor Steve Densham and Colson Shane, who had submitted the name chosen, unveiled the plaque announcing the area would be known as the “Outside Chapter”.
“The Crysler Friends of the Library are doing a fantastic job integrating their local branch into Crysler’s daily community life, turning the branch into a welcoming community gathering place. Well done to everyone involved,” commented North Stormont Deputy Mayor Steve Densham after congratulating Shane for entering the winning name.
Crysler Friends of the Library (CFL) Chair Lynne Laflèche mentioned the area has been well utilized by the community. “Because the outdoor library area has been used to its capacity, then the Crysler Friends of the Library felt it would be good to investigate a phase two of the project,” she said.
