SOUTH STORMONT – Cindy Woods recently filed papers to seek re-election as a municipal councillor in South Stormont.
“I have decided to pursue another term in council because I am very excited to see where the township is going, there are a lot of good things happening in South Stormont,” commented Woods in an email to The Chesterville Record. Woods mentioned, if re-elected in the 2022 election, this will be her fourth council term, commenting, “This was by far the best council I have worked with. She continued, council has had to make tough decisions, with municipal staff working tirelessly to assist council by providing the information necessary for decision-making.
“We are facing many challenges in the future with the rising prices for many supplies, including materials to repair and replace our roads and bridges, while maintaining an affordable tax base,” she said. Woods noted municipal governments have had “services and procedures that have been and will be downloaded from the provincial and federal government.” She explained the staff have been able to find grant opportunities that help to offset project costs, as well as seeking support from various governmental agencies. Woods mentioned there is a need to continue working with the St. Lawrence Parks Commission to bring the waterfront development plan to reality.
“I look forward to the future for South Stormont and truly hope we continue to make it a beautiful place to live, work and visit.”
