“Kirsten Gardner is a community activist with a reputation of being a ‘leader and doer who delivers.’ She was elected deputy mayor of South Dundas in 2018 in her first foray into municipal politics. As deputy mayor, Kirsten also represents South Dundas as a councillor with the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry. She is also a board member of the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, and a board member of the Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry Victim Services.
Kirsten’s career of public services includes positions of senior responsibility at the municipal, provincial, and federal government levels where she has been recognized for her leadership and organizational abilities. She also runs a consulting company that offers in-person mental health first aid training to employers.
Before municipal politics, Kirsten volunteered on the Parent Council of the Morrisburg Public School. Kirsten is passionate about education, and she is recognized for her leadership at the county level for advocating for rural education reform. Also at SDG Council, Gardner was a proponent for funding the Mobile Crisis Response Team pilot project with the OPP. The project added a trained mental health nurse to work with officers at the SDG detachment when responding to mental health crises.”
