WINCHESTER SPRINGS – With the site excavation completed and the foundation poured, Habitat for Humanity Cornwall and the Counties’ 17th home build project is well underway.

The new home will take shape at 12240 County Road 5 in Winchester Springs in the Municipality of South Dundas. The receiving family, the Rumohr-Boisvert’s, are currently living in a transitional housing program home, which, once the family vacates, will free up space for another family to move in. Once the home in Winchester Springs is completed, the Rumohr-Boisvert’s will have the space, privacy, and safe living environment they need.

The project officially broke ground on April 22 with the family, the public, and local dignitaries invited to witness the event. Then, on May 9, excavation for the home’s foundation took place while St. Lawrence College – Cornwall Campus construction students worked to prepare for the next step, pouring the concreate foundation. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the on-site supervisor said he expects the family to be moved in before the end of 2022.
