AVONMORE – In the tradition of the other Ladies Night held at North Stormont Place in Avonmore, this year’s event was a resounding success. The 2020 and 2021 Ladies Night events were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and there was a wonderful sense of community evident in NSP.
Organized by the Avonmore Community Athletic Association, organizer Josee Poirier explained the event raised $13,325.25 for Carefor Health and Community Services, Meals On Wheels delivery services in North Stormont. Poirier commented how “It takes a village to support community services! Avonmore is a small community with a huge heart.”
Poirier continued the event provided an opportunity for fun and fellowship for the 112 women who participated. She mentioned there were fifteen tables decorated, noting the Night Before Christmas group had three decorated tables. Some of the themes included Neverland, Witches of Oz, Little Bo Peep, Goodnight Construction Site and Yellowstone, with many in costumes related to their table’s theme.
Throughout the evening, participants were able to visit with friends, enjoy delicious snacks and desserts, bid in the silent auction and later in the live auction with auctioneer Brandon Scheeppers. On behalf of staff and clients of Adams Financial Group, Kerry Adams presented a cheque for $3,000 to Carefor Meal Delivery Program during the evening.
A sincere thanks was provided to those who made donations for the auctions, organized the event, decorated the tables and venue. Poirier wished to thank the ACAA committee members who worked so hard to make this event successful including Sophie Branchaud, Carrie Coutourier, Kerri Mainville and Beth Harps. A special thanks was extended to Adams Financial Group, noting how AFG president Kerry Adam is a ACAA volunteer and serves as the fire chief, Avonmore Station, North Stormont Fire Services. The 2023 Ladies Night theme will be the 90s era, much to the delight of people at this year’s event and is scheduled for May 12, 2023.
