CRYSLER – The Mad Hatter Tea Party and Easter Egg Hunt event held at the Crysler Community Centre was a fun and fascinating afternoon for people of all ages on Sun., April 10.

Danielle Linnett, who with her team of volunteers organized the event, explained Orbital Talent was originally to perform at the Crysler Winter Carnival but the performance was delayed due to COVID-19 precautions in place at the time. It was decided to hold the event later, with volunteers deciding to hold a Mad Hatter Tea Party and Easter Egg Hunt.

Inside the Community Centre, performers from Orbital Talent in Ottawa provided an interactive theatrical presentation with the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts delighting the crowd with magic acts, puppetry, and lots of laughs. Outside the Games to Go gaming truck was a favourite stop enabling gamers the opportunity to play some video games.

Following the presentation, children and parents were able to participate in an outdoor Easter Egg hunt, with the Easter Bunny and volunteers assisting egg hunters. Linnett explained 55 children had registered for the egg hunt, which involved finding 10 eggs and upon returning them to the student volunteers in the gazebo would receive a free treat bag from the Crysler Community Centre Committee. She continued there were two larger eggs for adults to find which contained a coupon from Waikato Pizza donated to the event by the business.

While the egg hunt was going on outside, volunteers were busy inside setting up cupcakes and juice for the participants. During the final event of the afternoon, there was a draw for four Easter Baskets donated by Liv’s Gift and Baskets in Crysler.

Linnett expressed her thanks to Lapp Construction, Games to Go, Harvex and the Crysler Community Centre Committee for their support for this free community event. She also wished to thank the student volunteers who worked to decorate the community centre and facilitate the Easter Egg Hunt as well as the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.
