RUSSELL—On Dec. 30, 2020, shortly after 4:30 a.m., a Russell County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a vehicle on Highway 417 eastbound near the Limoges exit.
The investigation revealed that the driver was in contravention of the Ontario Cannabis Act, resulting in a search of the vehicle. The search uncovered nearly 160 grams of suspected fentanyl and 110 grams of crack cocaine and cocaine combined. The drugs seized had a total value of nearly $27,000.
As a result of the investigation, David Ivan Trombley, 22-years-old, from Windsor was arrested and charged with:
Failure to Comply with release order -Criminal Code 145(5)(a);
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) 5(2);
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Heroin CDSA 5(2);
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin) CDSA 5(2); and
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 91(1).
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
A second individual fled from the scene on foot and an arrest warrant has been issued.
