CHESTERVILLE -Christine Barkley, president of the Rotary Club of Chesterville & District (RCCD), was pleased with the participation of residents in the Chesterville’s Great Pumpkin Patch event held on Wed., Oct. 28. She explained there were between 50 and 100 displays throughout this North Dundas community, with the waterfront gazebo decorated for the occasion.
The RCCD is sponsoring a Remembrance Day Colouring Contest, with Barkley explaining the colouring pages are available at the Chesterville Pharmacy. Participants are asked to drop off their entries by Nov. 9. Prizes will be awarded by age category.
One of the most anticipated events of the year is the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus to Chesterville.
Barkley explained how she “spoke with Santa himself last week. He and Mrs. Claus have been staying well through the pandemic. He assured me he will be arriving at the waterfront gazebo in Chesterville on Dec. 5.”
In keeping with COVID-19 regulations “he will be wearing his mask to help keep everyone safe” and will be cordoned off due to the pandemic. While children will not be able to “sit on his knee this year,” he is looking forward to seeing everyone and “say Hello-Ho-Ho to all the children.” Barkley mentioned Santa will be bringing a special mailbox with him and hopes youngsters “will mail their letters on the 5th,” with a promise to reply, “to all letters that include the child’s name, age and address.” Stay tuned for more information on Santa’s visit to Chesterville in the next little while.
