STORMONT COUNTY – Stormont County 4-H was pleased to announce that Barbara Ann Glaude, long time volunteer and supporter of 4-H in the Stormont County organization was one of three recipients of the 2020 4-H Ontario Arbor Awards. This prestigious honour was sponsored by Bayer Crop Science and recognizes “exemplary volunteer service with 4-H in Ontario and the community,” according to an April 20, news release from 4-H Ontario. The two other recipients were John Fred Sharp from the Northumberland 4-H Association and Beth Meszaros of Durham East 4-H Association.

The press release mentions how Glaude participated in Stormont County 4-H when she was younger, graduating from the program with 45 completed projects and the recipient of many awards. She became a 4-H leader “so her four children could benefit from, and enjoy the 4-H program the same as she did.” Glaude has remained active with Stormont 4-H currently serving as the webmaster for the Stormont 4-H Association and has held positions at the regional level. For many years she has been involved in the Stormont Agricultural Society and currently serves as the secretary of the organization. Neil Robinson, a volunteer with Stormont 4-H, described Glaude as “a seedling enriched by 4-H, and has grown strong, and for years has been enriching the lives of our youth and the community as a whole.”

The release noted that the 2020 recipients will be honoured provincially at the 2021 4-H Ontario Arbor Award Banquet, with a “tree planting ceremony for each recipient” to “be held once social distancing protocols are lifted to commemorate their outstanding contributions to the 4-H program and positive youth development within their community.”
