MORRISBURG – Members of the Morrisburg & District Leo Club, accompanied by their Leo advisors, were busy on Sat., Feb. 15 collecting food and donations for Community Food Share at Laura’s ValueMart and Giant Tiger in Morrisburg.
Leo advisor Lion Linda Robinson from the Morrisburg & District Lions Club explained the Leo Club is designed for people between the ages of 12 and 18. The M&D Leo Club will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in the coming months. Robinson said her reward for working with the youth “is to see them blossom and gain confidence.”
Leo Abigail Mason commented that she is enjoying her time as a Leo, saying it is a lot of fun and “we get to help our community.” Leo Kayla Gillard, who recently joined the group, echoed Mason’s comments that it is rewarding to help the people in the community. Mason noted that Gillard frequently volunteers and has amassed approximately 600 hours of volunteer time.
Carolyn Thompson Goddard, grew up in Chesterville and attended North Dundas District High School. After completing her BA in Political Science at Carleton University she has worked as a medical secretary and library technician. In 2020 she graduated from Algonquin College with a diploma in Journalism and has been a reporter and column writer for The Chesterville Record for over 10 years.
