CARDINAL—The South Grenville Rangers opened their NCJHL quarterfinal against the Metcalfe Jets this past weekend with a pair of games as they welcomed the Metcalfe Jets on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
Rangers 10 Jets 1
The South Grenville Rangers welcomed the Metcalfe Jets to the Ingredion Centre in Cardinal on Sun., Feb. 23, for game two of the best of seven NCJHL quarterfinal. The Rangers were coming off a 5-1 victory the previous night over the Jets and looked to take a 2-0 series lead.
The Rangers opened the scoring just 1:29 into the first period when Brayden Forestell ripped one home from Jacob Servage on the power play taking a 1-0 lead. The Rangers made it 2-0 when Cooper Kingston scored from Servage and Hunter Shipclark while shorthanded at 5:16.
The Rangers kept rolling as Joe McLean tapped home a feed from Dylan Sharpley and Brayden Forestell at 7:28 taking a three-goal lead. The Rangers took a four-goal lead when Servage scored from Sharpley and Forestell at 15:44.
The Rangers took a 4-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Rangers continued scoring as Jordan Dodge snapped one home from Brody Ranger and Cole Edgley at 11:07 of the second period making it
5-0.
The Rangers took a 6-0 lead when Dodge scored his second of the game from Hayden Sayeau and Nate Medaglia at 14:09 on the power play. The Rangers took the 6-0 lead into the second intermission.
The Rangers took a seven-goal lead when Medaglia scored his third of the post season from Sharpley on the power play just 1:36 into the third period. The Rangers made it 8-0 as Owen Webster sniped one from Dodge and Connor Kennedy at 2:44 on the power play.
The Rangers added another power play goal at 5:30 as Savage scored his second of the game from Sharpley and Ranger to make it 9-0. The Jets got on the score sheet when MacKenzie Brewer scored his first of the playoff from Mark Brosseau and Alexandre Cloutier at 11:27.
The Rangers closed out the scoring when Ranger scored from Dodge and Medaglia at 8:57. The Rangers took the game 10-1 taking a 2-0 series lead.
Picking up the win in the Rangers’ goal was Sam Limoges-Ring and suffering the loss in the Jets goal was Jett Miller who was replaced by Josh Legault.

The Rangers completed the regular season in first place in the West Division and league overall and claimed home ice advantage throughout the playoffs.
The Rangers opened the scoring at 16:20 of the first period as Nate Medaglia scored a power play goal from Cameron Dillon and Brody Ranger taking a 1-0 lead. The Rangers made it 2-0 when Medaglia scored his second power play goal from Dylan Sharpley and Cooper Kingston with 1:52 remaining in the opening frame. The Rangers took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Rangers made it 3-0 as Jacob Servage scored his first goal of the post-season from Kingston and Joe McLean at 2:49 of the second period.
The Rangers took a four-goal lead when Jordan Dodge scored his first of the post-season from Ranger while shorthanded. The Jets got on the board when Connor Harty scored his first of the playoffs unassisted at 9:13 cutting the deficit to three.
The Rangers retook a four-goal lead with just three seconds remaining in the middle frame as Brayden Forestell scored his first of the playoffs from Owen Webster and took a 5-1 lead into the second intermission.
The teams battled to a scoreless third period with the Rangers taking the game with a 5-1 victory. With the win, the Rangers took a 1-0 series lead.

The South Grenville Rangers travel to the Larry Robinson Arena in Metcalfe tonight, Wed., Feb. 26 to take on the Jets at 9 p.m. for game three. Game four will be in Metcalfe on Fri., Feb. 28 at 8:15 p.m. and game five will be at the Ingredion Centre in Cardinal on Sat., Feb. 29 at 8:10 p.m. if necessary, and game six will be in Metcalfe on Sun., Mar. 1 at 2:10 p.m.
