The Morrisburg Lions welcomed the Bytown Royals to the Morrisburg Arena on Tues., Feb. 11, in the NCJHL. With the Lions season drawing to a close, one of their bright spots this season was the play of their leading scorer, Justice Brownlee. MORRISBURG—The Morrisburg Lions season came to an end with a make-up game against the Bytown Royals on Tuesday night in Morrisburg.

The Morrisburg Lions welcomed the Bytown Royals to the Morrisburg Arena on Tues., Feb. 11, in the NCJHL. The Lions went into their final game of the season with a woeful record of 4-28-1 and looked to close out the season with a victory.
The Royals jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead scoring just 2:10 into the first period and adding a second goal at 3:37. The Lions cut the deficit in half when Can Sherrer sneaked one under the Royals’ goalie’s trapper after undressing a defenseman at 4:27 unassisted.
The Lions tied the game when Kevin Doyle lifted one home from Jack Ingram at 13:48 but the Royals retook the lead at 16:27 on the power play. The Royals increased their lead to two with just 42 seconds remaining in the opening frame and took a 4-2 lead into the first intermission.
The Royals made it 5-2 at 6:38 of the second period on the power play. The Royals added two more at 15:23 and 16:17 and took a 7-2 lead into the second intermission. The Royals added another pair of goals at 8:11 and 8:42 of the third period both on the power play.
The Royals took the game 9-2 handing the Lions their 29 loss of the season. The Royals outshot the Lions 38-27. Suffering the loss in the Lions’ goal was Riley Phillips and was replaced by Zach Adams.
