WINCHESTER—The Winchester Hawks played just a single game this past weekend as they welcomed the Alexandria Glens on Friday night.

The Winchester Hawks welcomed the Alexandria Glens to the Joel Steele Community Centre on Fri., Nov. 15, in the CCHL2. The Hawks went into the game in fifth place, five points behind the Ottawa Jr. Canadians in fourth place and seven points up on the Char-Lan Rebels in sixth. The Glens went into the game in eighth in the Martin Division with just a pair of wins in the season. 

The Glens jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 8:03 of the first period on the power play. The Hawks tied the game just 32 seconds later as Eric Vitale scored his eighth goal of the season from Graeme Buffone and Marco Haw. 

The Glens retook the lead was 11:08 on the power play but again, the Hawks tied the game as Vitale scored his second of the game and ninth of the season at 16:19 from Ryan Nielson. The Glens took their third lead of the game at 17:04 and took a 3-2 lead into the first intermission. 

The Glens came out of the dressing room in the second period with a purpose scoring three consecutive goals at 6:50, 8:47 on the power play and 8:59 taking a 6-2 lead. The Hawks got one back at 14:44 as Vitale completed his hat trick scoring his 10th of the season from Nielson. 

The Hawks got to within two, when Vitale scored his fourth of the game and 11th of the season unassisted with just 47 seconds remaining in the middle frame. The Glens took a 6-4 lead into the second intermission. 

The Glens retook a three-goal lead at 3:26 of the third period on the power play. The Hawks closed the gap to two when Nicolas Corry scored his third of the season from Nathan Lassenba and Connor Harty at 3:45. The Glens made it 8-5 at 16:32 on the power play. 

Vitale scored his fifth goal of the game and 12th of the season with just five seconds remaining in the game from Nielson but it was too little too late as the Glens took the game 8-6. The Glens outshot the Hawks 59-53. 

Suffering the loss in the Hawks’ goal was Lucas Devries making 25 saves on 28 shots, after he replaced starter Cole Defazio who made 26 saves on 31 shots.
